VW Golf Mk7 Coilovers & Suspension Kits — Bilstein B12, B14, B16

Height-adjustable coilovers and matched suspension kits for the Volkswagen Golf Mk7, 2013–2019, including GTI and R. Bilstein B14 and B16 are coilovers — you set the ride height yourself. Bilstein B12 is a fixed-drop kit: shortened dampers and matched springs supplied as one package. For standard-height replacement dampers, see the full Mk7 suspension page.

Coilovers or a matched kit?

B12 is the simpler decision. The drop is set by the springs Bilstein supplies with it, so there is nothing to adjust and nothing to get wrong — fit it and the car sits where Bilstein intended. B14 gives you the ride height instead: you thread the perch up or down and set the drop yourself, which is the right choice if you are matching wheel and tyre clearances rather than accepting a fixed figure. B16 adds damping adjustment on top of height. Everything listed for the Mk7 is Bilstein; the Tein ranges are not currently stocked for this chassis.

What to check before ordering

The Mk7 caveat is DCC. Cars ordered with adaptive damping use electronically controlled struts, and passive coilovers are not a direct replacement for them without taking the system out — if your driving-mode selector changes suspension firmness, your car has DCC. Front-wheel-drive and 4MOTION cars use different rear axles, and the estate codes differ from the hatch. Have the car aligned after any ride-height change.
